The three year old iPhone 6 has been launched in the UK for $515 to compete in the mid-range smartphone segment.
Those going for the iPhone 6 didn’t care about the old A8 chip or its outdated camera, all they cared for was the Apple logo at the back. |
Everybody loved the iPhone 6 when it was launched in 2014. It was
the first iPhone since its launch to feature a new design and adopt a
larger display. It performed well and was providing the best smartphone
camera experience. However, it was succeeded by the iPhone 6S and the
iPhone 7, both of which have kept Apple’s cash counters active. Despite
the newer iPhone, the iPhone 6 is still a favourite for many users
around the world – not because of its specifications, but its price tag.
The iPhone 6 sold well even after the newer iPhones were released in the market. Those going for the 6 didn’t care about the old A8 chip or its outdated camera, all they cared for was the Apple logo at the back. The 16GB model found many buyers from the mid-range smartphone market, even with the lack of expandable storage. Since Apple didn’t want to miss on the opportunity to register more iPhone sales on its chart, they have relaunched the iPhone 6 with a 32 GB model as the base variant. This costs around $515, bringing it on par with the likes of OnePlus 3 and others.
The iPhone 6 with the refreshed storage options was meant to serve as
the second entry-level device in Apple’s iPhone lineup in developing
countries. With Apple expanding its developing country plans to
developed countries, it seems that the Cupertino giant wants to gather
as much revenue as possible from its outdated devices and gain wider
traction with the consumers who wish to have an affordable iPhone.
The 32GB iPhone 6 is available in India for a sum of Rs 26,990 on Flipkart and Amazon.
