1968 – Intel Founded
Robert
Noyce, Andy Grove, and Gordon Moore incorporate Intel in Santa Cara, California
to build microprocessors. Their first processor, the 4004, was released in 1971
for use in calculators. IBM’s choice of Intel’s 8088 processor for use in the
IBM pc led to Intel’s emergence as the premier manufacturer of processor still
to this day.
1992 –
Silvano de Gennaro, an IT developer at CERN took a picture of the singing group
‘Les Horribles Cernettes’ who sang mostly about physics. Tim Berners-Lee would
later use that picture as a test, making it the first photo uploaded to the
World Wide Web.
2001 –
Apple announced Mac OS X 10.1 Puma, the first update to OS X.
